You can see how the dark cabinets with the furr down (or soffit) above, make for a long, horizontal boring wall with the feel of a low ceiling. Hubby had more confidence in me than i did. With this kitchen, there was a furr down (was.yay!) which was removed, that made space for the additional cabinets we added above. Installing kitchen cabinets isn't a job for your average homeowner. Cut your board to that length. But one thing i did know… i wanted the cabinets to extend up to the ceiling.
